I picked up another trailer, used but it has a beefier frame than my old one.

Its an EZ loader.
It seems to sit a lot higher than my old Caulkins contour trailer.

The wheels seem big, I measured the tire diameter, its 29" dia.
rims are 16".

The bunks appear to sit 28 inches from the ground.
Is that too high?

Re: nuther trailer

It's only too high if it creates a problem launching where ever you launch your boat.

What is the GVW of that trailer vs what your boat requires? That sounds like a pretty heavy duty trailer. (You wouldn't want a trailer with a 9,000lb GVW under a 1,500 lb boat, it wouldn't give enough suspension cushion for the hull).

There's one ramp near me that is very shallow and very gradual. No matter which boat or trailer I launch, I end up stepping out of the truck into water to get the boat off the trailer.

29" doesn't seem all that high to me, a lot also depends on your hull design and how it sits on the trailer.
You may be able to adjust the trailer to get the boat a bit lower? I had one here that had super tall roller bar brackets or frame stands. I replaced them with lower ones and knocked nearly 6" off the overall seated height of the boat.

A higher trailer does allow for better outdrive clearance both when loading and when on the highway.

Re: nuther trailer

Not trailer tires again!?
bah.!

I deflated the tires so we could slide the trailer under the boat, even when deflated they didn't hardly go down at all.

Trailer is rated 3000 lbs...I think.
Boat weighs 1400lbs without the J150 and 2 batteries and 24 gals fuel.

We converted it to bunks and raised the bunks at the front, maybe it will slide off easier.

The trailer frame is galvi 3" x 4" .
I guess we'll just have to try it.

What is the identification on the tires ??? that will help identifying what type of tires they are.
