NY State Registration Sticker Removal

I have to replace the NY State registration sticker from my new Grady White boat hull and do not want to damage the gel coat while removing last year sticker. Any ideas out there on best way to remove old stickers from gel coat hulls?<br />Ernie

Try a hair blower and then some goo be gone or baby oil. This method has worked for me on other stickers.

New razor blade, then product called "Oops" removes sticky stuff from fiberglass..............

Use "Sticker Off" from Wal-Mart in the boating section. This also is pretty good at removing tree sap and other sticky problems.

I have always heard the hair dryer <heat> works best.

I bought a heat gun as the hairdyer was too slow!<br /><br />I removed a lit and i mean a lot of pinstiping and reg numbers. Heat it for about 30 seconds then try to get an edge with a figernail. If it comes up good if not hit it again with the hair dryer. Low speed and about two inches away. Goof off worked better than acetone for me. TRhe acetone seemed to evaporate before you could wipe it on the adhesive! BTW if the wife has nail plish remover you can use that to get the glue residue off too.
