Re: NY to Cape May-update
Grandpafish,
If I am not misstaken the trip from manasquan to cape may is about 90 miles, you must have been doing 30 mph to do it in 3 hours 15 min.

What kind of boat did you do it in? also what do you have for power?

Do you have an idea how much fuel was used on your trip?

I have made this trip many times but always in a sailboat and usually not in calm conditions.

Watch out for delaware bay, that upper bay can be a nightmare with winds against the tide.

We once came down the bay with 25 to 30 knots from the north and a incoming tide, the results were waves that were extremely steep and coming at us from different directions. We were in a 43 ft. sailboat 30,000 lbs and felt like we had a dingy, this is one time I will not forget soon.I have since read stories about other peoples similar experiences on delaware bay and thought I would pass mine along. The main problem with the bay is it is about a 60 mile trip from cape may to chessapeake city with almost no deep port to duck into when conditions get bad.

Glad to here you had a nice trip without problems.

Good luck on future cruises

Bill
