Is the NYC boat show worth a 3 hour trip? If so, any days better than others or is it very crowded every day?

Re: NYC boat show

Going to the NYC show for the first time next week so cant comment on how crowded it will be.

I would have to agree with I'mBAck ...for someone like myself that does not live on the water nor has many friends with boats, I cant think of a better way to get on so many different types of boats and get a feel at least for quality and style.

Of course I hope to be buying a new (or new to me) boat in a season or two so this is good research for me. Would I drive 3 hours to look at a bunch of boats I have no intention of buying?????

Dont know about the boats show, this will be my first year going as well, however, I do go to the auto shows and they are crowded. Your best bet is to go in the middle of the week. It is always most crowded at the beginning and at the end.

Thanks all. I too am learning and looking to buy first boat for use on the Eastern Shore of Md. and the Chesapeake. I have seen positive web comments about a number of shows--Ft Lauderdale, Annapolis--but not much on NYC. Only have one day to get there and back so total of 6+hours travel for hopefully 7 hours of seeing.

I've gone a few times to the boat show. And let me tell you its worth it. Just one advice dont go on the weekend. Weekday you would be able to enjoy it better without having people bumping into you. Also if you go on the last day you would get the best deals. Oh and bring the wife cause she could hold your credit cards for you or else your going to be spending more than what you wanted. ;)

Re: NYC boat show

Being the owner of a trade show display company, I avoid going to any convention centers outside of work, thus even a boat show holds no luster for me:D

However, I have been to the NY boat show many times (I have a few clients there) and can tell you it almost doesnt matter when you go as it is always crowded. Bring money.

Yes it is worth it, six hours of drive time makes for a long trip. May I suggest public transportation.

The train takes you right into, NYC Penn Station. You can get a free shuttle from Penn Station to the boat show.

Second choice, drive to wehaukin, nj take the ferry over to boat show.

Ferry = fun boat ride
Train time to sleep less driving

Parking at NYC can be tough.

All boat shows are worth a drive of a couple hours.
Catch is, a big show takes more than 1 day to see and appreciate.

Have you been to the Baltimore boat show? What do you think of it?
