Ok, I have looked for a thread that would deal with this.. with no luck..

What would the drawbacks of converting an O/B original boat (150 hp V6 )to an I/O or full inboard drive system??

It would seem that this boat should have no problem with it....or am I missing something that would be a problem??

Its an 18' with closed front end and rear end..

Cruez - I have not done this so hope others pop in for you. My thoughts are that it might be a difficult conversion to a strait inboard due to the shaft log and rudder post. Also most have some kind of full keel. Consider the depth of the water that you usually boat in.

As to an I/O that should be easier if you have a full transom rather than a cut out (for the outboard). You still will have to open up the rear deck to build supports for the motot.

Most folks would fix or repalce the outboard I think.

Opening the back would not be a problem. The cover is bolted in anyway. Its almost like It could have come with an I/O.

I was looking at the jet drives, that would seem to be a fairly simple conversion.. The attached link shows a boat almost identical to mine..

and it is fitted with a jet drive.
