Without Googling?!?! I might get some detail wrong... My gimpy single-cell memory unit recalls something like:<br /><br />Ok is a play on a phrase that was popular during the Victorian era, alls correct, meaning everything is fine. It was popular during that era to use acronyms, and to fiddle with the letters of an acronym, but not fiddle too much. Ok is the result of fiddling with the letters AC to come up with an acronym for alls correct.<br /><br />Fwiw, Ok is also the only word that has usage and the same meaning in every language.
