This passed summer I saw a nasty looking O.P.P (ontario provincial police) truck.
It was up here when a couple of crazies were holed up in the bush a few miles from here and were taking pot shots at passing cars with a high powered rifle.
I just found out they have 2 of them, but they have been keeping it pretty hush hush.

Not exactly the tow rating but...
"the trucks are bullet-proof, have off-road capabilities, can ford water and can travel long distances at normal highway speeds. The manufacturer’s version of the ARV can carry up to nearly 16,000 kg, including its own weight, at highway speed."

One of the companies that makes these types of vehicles is located about 15 miles from where I live, in fact, with my Military background, I have been talking to them about a job!

"the trucks are bullet-proof,."

Look up Cambli in Quebec. I'll bet they make them for O.P.P. They make armored trucks for Brinks. They used to have a section called "Challenge Us", basically, "we'll build whatever you can dream up, for a price!"

Wonder what kind of winch you'd use if it got stuck? :boink:

Not sure. Maybe we should ask MTboatguy. Last I heard he's still in the ditch with a winch in the living room.....

Re: O.P.P. police trucks

Around here they would probably scrap it, it's what they do with the armored security trucks.
I had a shop that was in the same yard as a wrecking yard and they used to get one to scrap every once in a while.
They were not allowed to sell/salvage anything from them, not the rad, engine, nothing.
All had to be dismanteled and crushed.
