"O" ring in waterpump kit?

whats the little o ring for in my water pump kit? It's for a 1971 Johnson 50. The manual shows it but not where it might go. There wasn't one in the outboard when it was disassembled. There is a groove on the driveshaft up by the splines that engage the powerhead. Could that be it? Thanks!<br />-Spiker

thats it most likely, just put iton the shaft and see if it fits. It should be what its for tho.

hello<br /> yep thats it.<br /> now take a powerful light and try to find the original one. it may be stuck in the power head. if so it may cause assembly problems.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Use plenty of grease on the driveshaft splines but do not grease the end of it. Maybe just a very thin coat, no more.<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty
