It appears that the Orings that I need for my fuel rail is a dealer item. The orings are not cracked and are still flexible, but they are flattened where they seal at.

Was told soaking them in brake fluid could get them to swell a little, but make sure the excess is cleaned off before installing. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try it.

My .02:

If the o-rings were are the sole problem you are fixing, then just bend over and go buy them.

If you were replacing something ELSE that was wrong, and they were not leaking before, and you just notice they may need replacing, AND, if it is a very easy thing to get at, it might be worth a shot re-using. But if it takes an hour to tear down just to get to the lil buggers, i'd replace with new.

.....and if you have time to wait, watch the ole ebay for a month, never know who might have a set to put on.

Re: "O"ring ?

Its not that big of a deal to get to the fuel rails, at least not now after getting to them several times. :(

The car has sit in the garage since I redone the heads. I had everything back together and then found out the timing belt tensioner was bad. Didn't have the extra cash to get the part. Finally the weather broke a bit and did a side job to get the cash for the tensioner.

Yep Noel, they started leaking because of being moved around while doing the heads. They were not the primary problem. Now it is! It is just unbelieveable that those particular rings are a dealer item. The parts stores have the oring kit for the injectors. The orings I need are the ones that hook the gas line up to the fuel rail that the injectors sit in.

When the partsperson asks me my name, I'm gonna say "My name is Ben Dover".

Thanks,,,,,,,guess I gotta do what I gotta do and get over it! :)

Yep, no need to worry, I will get new ones. I just wouldn't feel right if someone got hurt because of a minor part that does a major job.

I maybe using the engine/transaxle to put into the car in the pic. It will give me better A/C, heat, rear disc brakes, and some excellent power to weight ratio. Any ideas of what this car is?
Re: "O"ring ?

Believe it or not, it is a Bradley GT. My Dad got into an argument with the kit car company. They wouldn't sell him any parts even though he had his own body shop business. So he said he was going to fix it so it wouldn't look anything like a bradley.

Headlight pans are off a 67 beetle
Roof is from a VW squareback
Rear hatch is from a Datsun B210
Doors also come from the squareback
Tailights are from a 72 Toyota
Windshield is still the stock one which is from a 67 vette.

The car got handed down to me when my parents passed away. Fun to drive, just those drum brakes suck. It has the porsch 914 2 liter in it now. The heater still aint worth a crap.
