1998 Yamaha 225 TXRW OX66
would run like crap low speeds and would not pull top RPM

So I Pulled the spark plugs , they were very black, (motor running rich)

then I pulled the o2 sensor it had a lot of carbon on it and it was oily

Can it be cleaned or should it be replaced?

it can easily be cleaned....but don't use chemicals. just take a blow torch to the metal and get it glowing cherry red then let cool....may have to
repeat a few times....you have to burn all that off.....and very very gently scrape a little if needed with pick or screwdriver....this is the way
Yamaha taught me to clean it....with a torch. Most of the time the cleaning works, but you have let this one go so far...just try...and then do this
every season or so.
