You helped me figure out how to convert my 130 Johnson "smoking" VRO to a straight 50:1 pumper. I have not done that yet, but I know how to, and will do it soon, thanks to you. Thanks
The question: I recently bought a little fishiing boat for me with a 95 Johnson 90 hp "Saltwater series". I have a constant beeping/chirping sound that is driving me nuts! Every 1/2 second or so. I want to convert this to a 50:1 pumper and get rid of the VRO. Is it the same process as the 130 that you told me about? The owners manual for the 90 says that you have to take it to the dealeer for the conversion. Any reason to take it in, other then to help send the dealer's kids to college???
Thanks

Not OB, but the procedure is the same as the other engine.

Ditto on what Rick said..Always make sure you test the overheat sensor (tan)lead to ground with the key in the "on" position when disconnect procedure is complete to assure that the overheat sensor and alarm circuit are still operational.
