OBD II ...Anyone??

Anyone play around with OBD II interfacing and software?? I've been playing around with the idea for quite some time, and wanted to hear from anyone who's "been there, done that"

Been reading live data, perfoming adaptations, reading and interpreting DTC's since pre OBD2, Control Area Network (CAN) 1991.<br />Specifically whatcha after?

I been thinking about building an interface (MAX232 based I assume) and cable to read codes for my Chevy Van '98 3.4. I guess the software is the next hurdle along with a circuit diagram.

If you are looking for software and an interface to do generic and enhanced data as well as code reading. Try www.obd-2.com he is a local guy here I have used the stuff and really like it. There is also a ton of software available for Palm Pilots mostly generic. I guess it just depends on what ya want to do. Hope this helps ya.<br /><br />Matt

Heh, My saturn is OBD-I<br /><br />On a question that I've never actually gotten around to asking - do you just get codes and readings from ODB-II interfaces, or can you actually tweak some of the PCM stuff? And are there any boat engines that utilize an onboard diagnostics feature like ODB-I or II?
