So I have this 1995 5.8 FLPHUR Volvo Penta. Had some wire issues resolved, thanks Ron S and Gerry.
New dilemma is the flywheel to flex plate studs. Broke 3. My local Penta dealers computer shows the parts listed as obsolete and no reference numbers.
What should I do? The stud portion that goes into the flywheel is 5/16- 1/4 18. Then there is a shoulder that sits on the flywheel face to a 1/2 inch stud.
Is there a new flex plate with 5/16 holes drilled and use bolts or do I need to make a spacer?
Funny part of the story is a local machine shop claimed the studs were too hard to drill out.
3 bits an EZ out and 45 minutes later Dad and I got them out along with clean threads.
Should have tried first. Could have saved me a week.
