I have an early model 280 Volvo, The trim motor is to be $250 to be rebuilt if rebuildable. The late model 280 is still available at half the cost of the obsolete one. I know the wiring is different, but will the late model work for me as far as the required torque, rpm, etc.?

Re: Obsolete Trim Motor

Volvo has used several styles of tilt and trim systems. I would get the new style tilt and trim assembly. I do not recommend repowering a tilt motor. Need more information about what style you have. Be glad to help you. Give me a call at 1-800-949-2189 Gene

Re: Obsolete Trim Motor

Hi Gene,

Part number that is on the motor is KS 3448/300 which is volvo number 850046 or 853520.

I was just wondering if volvo #850834 could be modified to work? Wiring won't be a problem, and making an adapter won't be much problem. Just want to make sure that the newer motor can handle the load. I wouldn't think it would take much to turn the worm drive. I used my 12v cordless to run the outdrive up at the end of last season.

Found some on ebay, but they end up going for around 180. Thanks........SS
