I have a 2015 Boat with V8-300 CE-B engines (One engine SN is A440235 with Ox drive SN is A444814) with EVC-E (or E2?) joystick .
Boat has 210 hours; all of a sudden when coming off of plane the port "check drive oil" alarm went off. I turned it off for a couple of minutes and went back to port at below 1000 Rpms but during that time alarm didn't came back. I checked drive oil and it looked good (No water, good level). Just in case I replaced it to collect all of it for better examination and it was clean (it had around 50 hours). I reset the sensor per user manual but the manual says that the beeper should beep 3 times but mine didnt . (I tried resetting the other engine and it didnt beep either so may be my EVC version doesn't beep...?)
Whith the new fluid (OEM VP Synthetic gear case oil) I run the boat at operating RPMs without any issue but again when going down to idling the alarm went off. Strange thing is that when I lower RPMs at 1500 or 2000 RPMs alarm is not triggered; just when the engine goes to idling.
I can start the boat , idling for as much as I want and run it at speed without any alarm. Just when I go down to idling the alarm goes off.
I though that may be the Water in Drive sensor is bad but it should fail at any speed I guess?
Batteries are new (I thought that may be error was due to a voltage variation when reducing RPMs). On the other hand , I'm having with the same engine another random sporadic issue that started way before this sensor but may be they are related ?
Sometimes , when I turn the port ignition Key the EVC doesnt wake up, and it doesnt seem to be the key switch (I can turn the key 10 times and it wont work); but if i turn on the stdb key (It works good) then the port key works.
Another workaround is to switch the batteries off/on and then the port key works again. (issue started happening 10 hours or so before the WID sensor issue ). This port key problem is hard to reproduce because it doesn't happen frequently.
Any help with the WID problem would be appreciatted!! (I will post about the key switch in another thread).
