Guys,
Can anyone tell me how to get at the starter shaft and bendix to oil it. I have a 95 150 oceanrunner and I can not figure out how to get at the starter without removing half the top of the motor. Any suggestions?

The 1995 60 degree V6's have a flywheel cover which has to be removed in order to service or replace the bendix. You'll have to remove the top sensor cover, the encoder wheel, sensor & bracket assembly, un-do some linkeage and then the 17 screws that hold the flyweel cover in place. I would recommend a factory service manual. Have fun!

-John

I am not at all familiar with your motor, and this idea may not go over well, but what the heck: Is it possible you could drill an 1/8" hole in the cover over the bendix for your WD-40 tube to access it? Like I said, it's a wacky idea, but just a thought.

Drilling any hole is not a good idea - on that motor, the bendix is driven thru a reduction gear and is actually offset, it is not directly on top of the starter.

-John
