Hello Everyone!
I have a 1996 200 Oceanrunner. I took the motor down to my mechanic to go thru it and he told me that my timing base trigger was seized. Fix the problem and took the boat out last weekend and after about 3 hours of running on the water, I heard a weird shattering noise. I stopped the boat and checked the motor out and noticed the magnets under the flywheel had shattered. Eased the boat back to the ramp and while I was putting the thorottle in neutral, it took a little more than needed force. Took it back to my mechanic and he said he noticed the timing trigger was seized again. He said he would look into it and call me. What would cause this to seize up again and why would the magnets shatter?
Thanks for the help,
Jason

Re: Oceanrunner Timing base trigger

Either the magnet came loose from rust and caught on the stator, or the crankshaft upper bearing is worn or bad and the crankshaft wobble made the magnet "catch" the stator, or your mechanic dislodged the magnets or neglected to inspect them while having the flywheel removed and servicing the timer base.

I agree, would you have an idea of why it would seized the 2nd time?

How could I check to see if the crankshaft bearing is worn or bad?
