Basically in a nutshell the gasoline we burn today 86-94 Octane is equal to or better than the gasoline of 30 years ago.<br /><br />Bob

Follow the owners manual and never use an octane higher than recommended,it is a waste of money!<br />Higher octane gas is less explosive than regular, it has additives to make it more compressible when used in high compression engines--that is the difference. Lower octane gas will not compress as easily which gives off heat causing pre-ignition (engine knock)in high compression engines. If you don't hear any knock then you don't need to spend the extra $$$

ALL OUR UNLEADED PETROL/GASOLINE OVER HERE IN IRELAND IS 95 OCTANE SO WE DONT HAVE MUCH OF A CHOICE LOL
