I have a 1987 60hp 3cyl 2-stroke Mercury motor. I have rebuilt the Fuel pump and the carbs. When purchased it barely ran.
Would not idle and would not go WOT. I rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump and it seemed to work better but still wouldn't idle. I adjusted the idle stop at the motor, not the screws on the carbs, and it idles.
Now I can crank and idle fine. It slowly revs up in idle then levels out and holds a fast idle. I can put into reverse or forward and it goes but as soon as I add throttle it bogs up and dies. It ran fine before the idle fix. The only other thing I changed at the same time was the prop. The old prop was cracked and the new one was sized for the motor better supposedly by the local mercury dealer.
I replaced the fuel line and primer bulb. Checked the fuel line from pump to carbs. Replaced the spark plugs.
Another thing is that the tell tale only runs when wot but seems water is running otherwise. Previous owner stated they had just replaced the impeller.
I'm searching for ideas for answers please.
