I know its a bit unconventional, but, I'm looking for ideas or recomendations on a steering rig for an electric trolling motor. The motor I have has a shaft that is too long to comfortably steer from the seating position of my flat bottom canoe. Is there even such a thing or am I stuck getting a new motor with a shorter shaft??

Re: Odd steering question

I think you're saying the motor sits so high and the existing arm is so short it's hard to steer from your seat. Right?

If so, there are some bolt-on arms that will allow some relief. The bad thing is that the speed control won't be in the one I'm thinking about.
