I have all self made kitchen cabinets at my lake house but the shelves are plywood. They get stained with spills and such and was wondering what the thoughts are about coating the shelves and bases with gel coat to protect them? Contact paper didn't stick to well and I don't think paint is right either.

Too much work. Formica would be my choice. Or replace the shelves with melamine shelves.

If you are not concerend with sanding it fair, and leaving a textured surface, I think it would work well. Just roll it on with a foam roller and reinstall.

i love gellcoat.......

really.....

it is a fantastic product that has many many uses. whatever you can dream up.....you can use gellcoat on...

its tough as nails.....looks great lasts forever. what else do you want out of a product?

however....it is expensive paint.

if you have lots to spare....go for it...i would not hesitate.
