I was wanting to know with tach to go with. I seen several posts that Teleflex is not a reliable tach. I have one on my boat right now. I will be replacing the power pack reg/rec stator and tigger base. Can a faulty tach mess up the rec/reg or other componets. What other tachs do you guys recommend. Thanks

Re: OEM, Teleflex, or other

The leading cause of tach failures starts at the battery. Crossed, loose, or corroded connections leaves voltage produced by the alternaor no place to go on occasion and the voltage finds it's way out thru the voltage regulator via diodes in the rectifier. With a blown rectifier, there is no signal to the tachometer. I personally haven't found Teleflex gauges to be any less reliable than the competition.

Who do you think manufactures the OEM? I guarantee the OEM is not doing it themselves.

Then if not teleflex who else. I think Oem is way to expensive and some times not the best.

Nothin' wrong with Teleflex. Used them for years with no problems. As Willy said, failures are mainly do to lack of maintenence or other causes, not the head unit itself...
