Of possible interest...

I was on the Sears site, where you get to look up the part number of your motor. I imagine that most everyone here is familiar with this process.

But what if your motor isn't a Sears motor? What if it's an Eska (Montgomery Ward or any of a number of other brands), the same thing but without the Sears part number to find it?

Here's something that I just tried on the Sears website, and it worked for me.

Just out of the blue, I thought, "I wonder if I can use wild-cards to see all their motors?"

So for a model number, I entered 217.58* (the asterik was often used in DOS as a wild card).

This kicked up every single item Sears ever offered that starts with those numbers. Could probably just use the 217.* and get more maybe. I haven't tried that yet (though I would expect it to work).

Give it a try. It adds a whole lot of value to the Sears site!

I played with it a little bit. There's actually too many hits coming in, so I had to do a few searches to get it all. The first model number I got was 217.58037 and the last was 217.59980

Not counting the electric motors, I came up with 117 different outboard motors, all with exploded views and parts lists.

That's a lot of information!
