joker, this is not a High School popularity contest.

It is about active members of the site who work on boats recognizing those that do an exception job renovating Starcraft boats.

Which Sam did, that is why he was nominated. Sam did a fantastic job on his boat and also contributed to the site. I hope he sticks around.

Are any of the family friends active members of the site? Or is the only reason they (you) joined was to vote for someone who is family or a friend?

Getting an award from your peers is the highest form of a complement.

There are also no prizes or gear awarded.

A plaque is sent to you if you win, you then also have to pay for the next winners plate to be engraved and pay to ship the plaque to the winner. The winner also has to work to set up the next years nomination and voting threads.

The "prize" is recognition of a project well done by your peers.

Its not a popularity contest.

Btw most contest u "win ur votes" and thats what we did. :)

Quote from your FB page

January 14 at 9:29am ?

Splmax sam is my dad Sam Horn
As you know in the 90s he built the boss armored truck and he is at it again building a fully functional starcraft boat from the frame up.
We need votes so we can win gear to fish walleye tournaments as a father daughter duo.
Its free to register and vote and i would reallly really appreicate it.
Im really proud of my dad for building this.

You should re read my post describing the "prize" for winning.

I think 64 nailed the whole spirit of the award. It should be judged by other people who are messing around with old, cheap boats, and based on merit. As opposed to brigading the poll for the sole reason that you know the person...and therefore disregarding the merit of other's work. Since I've been around I've only seen two polls. And I happened to vote for the eventual winners both times because I watched Watermann and Grandad put a huge amount of thought and work into their projects. We know this, our Facebook friends or whatever do not. They all take a lot of work but some folks go the extra mile and I think that's what the SOTY is about.

I can't believe that this casual, fun thing had to become controversial.

My $0.02.

Well said 64 and chem. I would only add that all put their heart and soul into their respective restos, and I hope they and their friends and family enjoy them for years to come.

Congrats Hayko ! I've been quietly watching from the sidelines. They're all good entries. I know what it means to have other re-builders recognize your efforts. Don't spend your prize all in one place. ;) - Grandad

Congratulations Hayko! Outstanding job!!

There weren?t a lot of builds splashed however all-4 that were nominated were top-shelf!

With the way these boats were rebuilt, you'?ll enjoy them for a very long time! :thumb:
