It takes 3 times as long to do as planned.Ie 30 days and Im boating. The more ya do the more you find to do.I dont like the way they did this.It cost twice as much as you thought but your to far in to quit now.
The up side is when your wating on parts its like Christmas. You find a new woman, the boat you start calling it her.Not where wife can hear.So now you want to get her all those shiny things online and in the catalogs. If your Opps you get a stripper pole and have both at same time.
This is mad boat syndrome.Enjoy it.
Its a lot of fun and personal satisfaction. One step at a time.Dont look at whole project just what you have gotten done.It really pull stress out of the work week. Now post some picts man.We love to see what fun everyone is having.

Re: Oh My God what have i started

i have done many. Tasha and i sit in the boat every afternoon, for a week. she sniffs, and i have an adult beverage. we discuss what we want this boat to be. do an outline, and sketch plans. and then break it down to small projects, that are do-able in a weekend. then we start the demo, and get to the base. then, spend another evening revising the outline. Tasha is great help, but not good with tools as she does not have and opposing thumb. she is the one in my avatar.

break the job down to small task, that way you see the progress. get the boat safe, and all your wiring run. then all the cosmetics come last. if you get it safe, and useable, you can still finished the fine work.

Should be a great restore project. Also a very nice size to get started on. Additionally, it being an outboard will simplify matters compared to an I/O.

Someone recently has a post on larsen project. It looks like a real fun boat and a looker once finished up.

Just follow all the good advice here and take it a step at a time and ask questions as you go along. Posting pictures related to your question is the best way for all the 'experts' here to understand the best answers for you.

Another added benefit of a project like this is that the more you do, the more you will learn techniques and skills that you can use in other areas.

I figured a couple of months and a few hundred dollars and I would be back at the lake.......hmmmm. Here it is three years later. My elephant keeps getting bigger. :D But it is all worth it, and then some.
