Now that my first Grandson is mobile ....... at the ripe age of 13 months his new found mobility is quite a treat......

Early today the grand baby was here and it was fun to see him "explore" .... the dvd, vcr, stereo, tv are so much fun because they have lights and sounds..... the NO word translates in a 13 month old boys head to GO AHEAD!! :D

After they left with the grand baby my wife and I put up our Christmas tree.... little did we know that those cute lights and ornaments are actually a lure for grandchildren!!

When they returned for a dinner get together my grandson went straight for the tree, the ornaments, the lights and anything else that was related to Christmas.

It was no long just "fun" to watch the mobility..... it became WORK!!

ain't it great, imagine human babies are just like, most of the rest. something new and they want to know what it is. make's me remember i am an animal, like many others, that are close to the human. and sometimes smarter.

Toddlers are a Joy! If you can keep your patience, & energy! Everything he see's is "Toys", to be explored,,,lol,,, Just like a new puppy, they have boundless energy, and are super curious, until they drop off in exhaustion. That's the time to chill, and renew your energy,,,lol,,, Christmas, Hey it's all about the kids, or grandkids anyway ;)

Sounds like you're going to have to hang the tree from the ceiling. ;-))

Been there, and then again, and now again. It seems each generation is even more precious than his/her parents were. I guess though, that it is we who have become more perceptive and sentimental.

When my girls were toddlers #2 daughter wanted to taste and play with everything on and under the tree. Rather than confine her to her playpen I had a thought.

A couple of months earlier I had harvested a 'coon for its pelt. I had just arrived back at home and had dropped the 'coon on the corner of the porch while I changed and had a cuppajoe. Alice wandered onto the porch. The entire neighborhood was rent with a bloodcurdling screech. She had come upon the 'coon and was petrified that it was gonna gobble her up.

After the neighbors and the cops had had their laughs and gone home I pretty much forgot about the incident. . .until Christmas Eve.

I put the now tanned pelt under the tree. She kept her distance from then on.

That also worked very well with cats that wanted to play with the tree. Used it for years.

Re: Ohhhh Grandparents Christmas

It certainly brought me a reality check......

The next grand child (sex not announced yet) will be here in May 08 which will put that one in the crawling stage by next Christmas.

I only have one son and if he gives me 7 Lester I would not know what to do!! The second one has him shaken up a bit!

The solution is to have a nice door gate the little kid cant get by or a portable crib.....Use :child safety: as the reason or you could just yank the kid up and smack him a few times when he doesnt obey the word no, but you know what that means,LOL

Spank the kid?,,, OMGod! you'll have protective services knocking on your door  Nah, just let him be a spoiled brat like alot of people nowadays , my theory is old enough to be aware, old enough to beware! as a last resort, if all else fails! Love them, but spare the rod, and spoil the child.
