Hi,

I have a 75hp 3-cyl 1994 Mercury. It runs great and I hate to complain but there seems to be no way to keep oil in the tank. Every time I raise the motor to trailer it, there is oil all over the transom and inside the cowling by the time I am home.

New seal was not the answer. The edge or lip has no dings or debris. Honestly, looking at the design I wonder if it could ever seal? Maybe I just run around with 1/2 oil or less?

I wonder if there is some mark on the outside of the tank that I am supposed to fill it to? Nothing is visible now. I figured out where to fill it to so that it does not leak but that is more than 1/2 way down the tank. Gotta be something I am doing wrong.Oil.JPG

Anyone faced this and fixed it?

Thanks

Take a steel rule and check that the cap is flat as they will bow sometime especially if it had a bad/damaged/swollen gasket and also fill to below neck....
