My shifter on my hydroelectric motor wont shift into reverse or neutral. The wires are getting juice where they are supposed to and and drained out the milky oil. I then put TCW III in the lower unit. I guess that was dumb. Could that be why its not shifting right? Also ive never had it in water yet just the hose. Ive done everything u guys have said and Im still at a loss. JoeReeves dont get mad Im a Novice!!! Im learning though.

Paulie

Re: Oil and Wire Question

You put TCW-3 in the L/U??!! You need to get that stuff out of there. You should only run OMC type "C" lower unit oil. Also if you drained milky oil out, then you may have a water leak somewhere. These lower units really don't like water in them. It can short the electronics. Change the fill and vent screw seals first and if it still leaks you should have a seal kit installed.

Change the L/U oil and then see if it works, if not post back and we'll see if we can get you going from there. Good luck.
