Another question I have pertaining to oil.

Relates to my other post I think. Merc 3.0L, 140 Help.

When I did oil change, I added 5 qts of oil per 2 different Marina Mechanics that I have talked to over the past few weeks. Saw a post today that stated:

"Being overfilled like that will cause the crankshaft to aireate the oil and cause the lifters to partally collaps. That would sure kill rpm.
Time to fix your oil problem then do a retest."

I checked my manual and it says oil capacity is 4 qts. I called mechanic back and asked him about it he said they always put 5 qts. a Merc 3.0L.

Thoughts??
