Oil change?

I have a 1985 19ft bowrider with a 3.0.I winterized it and last year put about 20 hours on it after the oil change.Does it need a new oil change, and what else should I do for the coming year.

I wouldn't bother. Oil does not go sour like milk. As far as what else to do, it depends on what was not done with the Winterization. Your manual will tell you what's due.

Well, there are some concerns about acid. One acid in particular is sulphuric acid caused by sulphur in the fuel mixing with condensation. <br /><br />I realize that diesels are more succeptable to this do to the nature of the fuel.<br /><br />The other problem is also associated with condensation. Water mixes with the oil and makes a milky residue. Easily seen around crankcase vents and fill tubes. This water dilutes the oil and is not good for it.<br /><br />Reading on here, this condensation is a real problem with 4 stroke outboards. <br /><br />I would think that condensation is a problem for all marine engines given the nature of the beast, and the colder the climate, the worse the problem. <br /><br />I usually change my oil annually, regardless of the infrequency of use. My perference, based upon nothing except feeling good about it.<br /><br />Mark

Oil and filter changes are the cheapest insurance you can buy. 5 qts of oil @ less than two bucks each, a filter at six or seven and a few minutes time = worry free boating.

jarata, change the oil! You should change the oil in both the motor and the outdrive, check the timing, the plugs, change your fuel filters. How long have you had this boat? There are lots of things that need checked yearly, like the gimble bearing and u-joints, the bellows. If you don't have a factory manuel, then you need to get one! If you plan on keeping this boat for awhile, then you either need to pay someone to check everything or learn how. There are more things to check, I am sure, but these are some basics.
