Re: Oil Change

What oil are you changing? Lower unit or just cleaning the two-stroke oil resevoir?

Re: Oil Change

For lower unit oil, pull the drain and vent plugs. Fill from the bottom until lub comes out the vent. Insert the vent plug then the drain. Why are you changing the oil in the oil injection resevoir. This oil gets changed regularly since the engine consumes it and you refill the resevoir. There is no need to change that oil unless you suspect it is contaminated, you want to use a different brand or you want to switch to a synthetic or synthetic blend from a regular TCW-3. The key is to keep the resevoir full and to make sure the engine is actually using oil. If it's not, the oil injection system that mixes the oil and fuel is not working and the engine can be seriously damaged.

Re: Oil Change

Thanks Silvertip
I never thought of it that way, ur correct u would burn it through the system. I just thought at least I know what's inside & what I'm using. I also think I'm going to replace the three plugs also. Again thank you for ur help. And I did see the two drain plugs, Had to step back after reading fill it from the lower drain, I just thought, wouldn't the new oil leak out while filling. lol Should the motor be tilted while filling or straight up.
