complete newbie here:

I ran the motor on the muffs. After a little while, i noticed some oil coming out of the exhaust. I believe it is gear oil. What seal/gasket have I broken?

What is the service requirements on the gear oil? I just inherited this motor. I dont have a manual, but I am trying to bring it back to life. I noticed there were 2 larger flat head screw ports on the starboard side of the motor. I couldnt break the bottom one loose,

thanks for help!

common for that lower drain screw to be stuck..a hand impact driver will generally do the job..oil out the exhaust is most likely unburnt fuel and crud it's managed to dissolve

I agree it's more than likely old 2cycle oil running out the exhaust, a bad vro weill dump to much oil and cause it to do that too!
