Oil delete

Have 2005 mercury .90h.p.a marine shop just took the oil tank off my 90 h.p mercury.to delete the automatic oiler.and unhooked the pump from throttle.my question is .is this the correct way.and if this will create any problem.i know I have to add oil when I put gas in it.

My 90 oil pump was gear driven off the crankshaft. I removed the fuel pump for access, removed the gear/shaft in the pump and reinstalled the pump. Did nothing else but add a pint of TC-W3 oil to 6 gallons of gas when refueling. I changed nothing else. Surely there are other ways of doing it.
