I watched a video on winterizing, and the boat they worked on had a hose that was pulled
out of the transom  drain plug to drain the oil. I just bought a boat with a 5.7 1988 OMC.
The engine is out and apart, ready for me to rebuild it, so now would be a good time to add this hose.
Is this something worth adding? It looked pretty easy. The boat I have will be trailered only,
so changing the oil in the driveway will be on dry land, not on a mooring or dock.
Any thoughts on this? Does anyone already have this on their boat? Thank you for your input, John

Re: Oil drain hose

Yes, I have this feature. It was well worth the time for me. I wish the filter drained into the pan, too. I can't remember exactly how I managed to match the threads. I used a 90 degree brass ball **** so I could reach the handle and also direct the hose as needed. Give yourself enough length to reach your collection pail. I keep the excess hose trained upward temporarily tie-wrapped to my fuel fill hose so that in the event the valve opens or leaks, I won't lose the engine oil into the bilge. - Grandad
