I got a optimax that i put the oil in with one of those tread in pumps that attatch to oil bottle. Got it done no problem then went to put new oil in my 8 h.p merc four stroke kixker and it is a differnt size thread. I figured merc would have used same size plugs for all ther motors. Any idea what the thread size is so i can get another oil pump for it.

Thanks.

I recently bought a used 2008, 8hp Tohatsu kicker, and the fitting from my Yamaha worked for lower unit refill.
Tohatsu makes small motors for Merc & Nissan.

Most of the lube pumps come with a metal adapter to fit some of the Japanese motors. Merc does use some re-badged Japanese motors in the lower horsepower range.

You're welcome. It's my understanding that the small outboards up to around 20hp are made by Tohatsu. Then I suppose that Merc & Nissan simply adds their decals to the cowlings? No worries though.. Tohatsu engine's run good as any with proper maintenance.
