WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO REPAIR STRIPPED THREADS IN THE OIL DRAIN HOLE OF AN OUTBOARD

What a good question!! I've never done one, but can certainly see the issues. Installing a heli-coil would be easy, but you'd lose most of the gasket sealing surface. Welding the hole over and retapping would still leave you with no sealing flange for the gasket. I'd try a heli-coil first. If I couldn't get the gasket to seal, I'd retap the hole to a pipe thread and use a allen head brass pipe plug installed with teflon tape...<br /><br />Good luck! :)
