Oil filter replacement

Does anyone know if a Fram PH3980 will work on a 4.3LX engine?
I just changed my oil and that is the filter I used. Could not see the existing filter's part number until after I removed it. According to fram's application chart, this filter seems to be used on a lot of chevy 4.3L motors. I have no clue, other than thread size, what the difference is between some of the filters.

I have a 4.3 mercruiser and use a purolator L24011 filter. On a cross reference list I have the Fram fliter is the Ph3980. Also go to Fram.com look under parts calalog. You'll find the Ph3980 is for mercruiser 4.3.

Great, thank you. I don't know why there has to be so many different filters for the same application.
