any one know why my crusader engine 350 1999 would be missing the center screw part that the oil filter attaches to it ?.... The is a hole in the center where the screw/stud thing usally sticks out that the oild filter would screw into it. There is no threads anywhere? any help would be appreciated.

It could be in the OLD filter

Not to many other places as it had to be holding it on

It's not a stud -- it's a nipple. Your local Chevrolet dealer would be my first choice but the local auto salvage yard would be cheaper and they would likely have a gazillion of them still installed in the dead engines that litter these places.

Obtain a nipple from a wrecking yard or GM, (probably not all that expensive).

Put a rag over the end of a screwdriver, dip the rag in solvent and wipe the internal threads there the nipple goes, to get the oil out of there.

Put 3-4 drops of red Loctite (#271) on the UPPER nipple threads only. Screw the nipple into place and leave it for 30 minutes to let the Loctite set. Make sure no Loctite has oozed down onto the lower (filter) threads and put the filter on. The nipple won't come out again.

Hold on here guys. If that nipple is missing, and the engine actually had a remote oil filter installed by Crusader, it's probably missing the complete oil bypass valve assembly held on by 2 bolts.

Ayuh,..........

It sounds like a Bare Block there......

You need either the Oil Filter Adapter like in Don's picture, or a Remote Adapter.....
You can't just screw a nipple into the Block......

I was a bit suspicious that I'd never seen one come out before...

Another fact learned; it's another good day!
