Re: oil filter substitute

Alpapale...You make a lot of sense and some good points, I certainly don't want to argue with anyone on this board about this topic (or any other) because I'm just here to share info with people that have similar interests as me (BOATING) however with regards to the OMC filter, I agree it's probably made by one of only a few that make them, actually I think it's made by Champion because it has 6 large holes, one of which is larger than the rest according the filter study. I believe that the OMC filter would have to be at least good enough for warranty standards so I convinced myself that it must be OK. As I said before I included the link to the study for peaople to read and draw their own conclusions, I hope it doesn't cause any hard feelings on this board.

Re: oil filter substitute

Hey Boatin Bob,

Don't worry ! I don't think anybody's arguing. We're just having a debate. It comes down to the fact that we all have our own preferences, and this board allows us to express them. I was just trying to express mine. I respect what you and Cootie are saying, and basically an approach to keep everything marine is probably safer then my approach which involves research and maybe some risk. But that's me, I enjoy making inquiries and research and when I learn, for example, that I can (may) get a better oil filter for less money (in my opinion) based on those inquiries, I feel rewarded for that research. So, again don’t worry. Keep the info coming. It was a great link ! Too bad someone doesn’t do a similar study on "Marine" oil filters !

Happy Boating !
:)
