Hello, I have an 83 EBBTIDE Catalina 190 V8 Mercruiser and im trying to do some maintenance. Right now it has a Puralator oil filter. Im sure thats not what should be on there. Ive tried to find soething on the net to look it up but not having any luck. What Oil Filter Make and Model should i put on there? OR is it ok to just replace with the same filter?

Re: Oil Filter

If it works, it works. I did some research on this before, there is no difference between marine filters and automotive filters. It is easy enough to cross reference automotive parts to your engine, if you know what the displacement is. Buy a good filter though, none of that 2 dollar junk.

You can use the same one. Is it a good brand? Personally I use Fram whenever I can. You can call any local boat shop and ask them for their reccomendation and then decide.

Re: Oil Filter

You can do/use whatever oil/filter you want. But, for me, it costs less the 35.00 to buy 5 quarts of Quicksilver 25W40 oil and the proper Quicksilver Filter. If the dealer isn't close to you then buy 2-3 seasons worth
