hi again , apart from my other problem of bogging, since my return yesterday from its first outing in my possession, there is a small puddle about 2 inches wide under my prop on the floor. it has stopped dripping now but it is black oil and is coming from behind the prop. any clues ? thanks

probably unburnt two stroke oil, fogging oil, carbon, exhaust gunk, etc. Give it a smell. if it's gear lube, you'll know. If it's not gear lube, it's just harmless gunk you blew out of your exhaust system.

Re: oil from prop??

as i say its the first time its happened and also the first time its been out , so i thought i may have crack a seal or something , but not a lot came out, it does feel and smell oily but is jet black.also when i flushed it out on the muffs when i came home , there was little bubbles of oil in the bucket. it has never done when testing before just in the bucket, only since its been on a run.
i hope your right and its just excees gunk.
thanks for you input

These motors aren't the most efficient when it comes to complete combustion. Oil/gas in the bucket is pretty normal. That same mixture will collect in your exhaust passages, and eventually drain out. It'll come over the lip of your prop, and drain down your skeg. The first time I saw it, i was terrified.

You might actually compare a sniff of gear lube to whatever you're seeing on the ground, just to clear your mind. Gear lube smells like nothing else on earth, save for a sludge pit at an oil refinery.
