Hey, this is the first boat and motor I've owned, and the guy I bought it from, didn't tell me anything about the motor. I've been having a lot of trouble with it. It's an old Johnson, I think 1958, with 35HP. The serial number is #1682556. If you can help, please tell me the oil/fuel ratio, and what kind of oil and gas I should use. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Re: Oil/Fuel ratio, PLEASE HELP

Hi, ScotBJ.

Please don't shout, "PLEASE HELP". I will make no difference. Just ask your question.

We need the Model number to confirm your engine's age. A 1958 35HP would be a RD-19 or RDE-19.

If your engine is indeed a '58 your fuel mix should be 24:1.

That is 6 gallons of 87 octane, alcohol-free, unleaded regular gas and 1 quart of TCW-3 rated outboard oil.

Let us know about the model number and if you plan to work on it get a manual.

Good luck. :)
