Oil/Gas Mix for 71 johnson 4hp

Hey guys, I got a quick question.

The factory service manual for my 71 Johnson 4 hp says 50:1.

On a recent thread 24:1 was recommended to me because this motor is not fully "jeweled".

Please advise. What would you run is this engine?

Run 24:1 and your engine will last forever. Unfortunately 50:1 doesn't provide enough lubrication for the little four. These were the last OMCs to use bushings and bearings.

I have a 1967 3hp which calls for 50:1, but I run it 24:1.
