Oil/Gas mix ratio...

i have a 1968 9.5 sportwin... is the mix ratio 50:1 or 24:1 on this particular motor... also... any suggestions for improving idle??? rich/lean knob? how does it work... thanks in advance...

Simply adjust the knob for best idle. It's that easy. However, there are a number of known things that will keep that 9.5 from idleing well. The major one is smoke inhalation. If you are running it in a barrel it's about impossible to keep smoke out of it. If you are running it on a boat and it is getting smoke under the hood, there are several causes for that, some which you don't want to hear.

Another major cause is broken upper front rubber motor mount. Grab hold of the flywheel (not running) and try to push-pull the motor fore and aft within the shell. Slight rubber cushioning is normal, major movement is a broken mount, a major repair job to replace.
