hi all, honda 115hp 4stroke 2002. i am having some running issues with my engine so today i had a look at the fuelfilter and it has oil in it. i guessed that the oil was maybe getting in via the lp fuel pump,i took it apart and found oil inside. i cleaned the fuel system out from tank to injectors, i then ran the engine and at first was good then started bogging down and stalled. restarted then limped back in. i reopened the lp fuel pump and was clean inside. my question is can oil get into my fuel from somewhere else? hp fuel pump? does this engine have a fuel cooled oil cooler? sorry another question, can the lp fuel pump leak air pressure from the camshaft into the fuel system?, i ask because i am getting air in the fuel system but downstream of the engine mounted filter. thanks for any input

Re: oil getting into fuel

problem sorted ,hp pump filter and screen really blocked. cleaned ,refitted and tested.,all seems ok. my guess is that the stuff in the hp pump and vst which was brown was discolouring the fuel or because the hp pump was trying to pump fuel that couldnt get through the hp filter so was causing a pressure drop and was drawing oily air in through the vst breather. tbh not really sure, just ideas. happy all is working.
