Oil Home Boiler ,can Veggie Oil Run It?

I have a friend with a VW that runs on used veggie oil.I have another friend that has a waste oil fired boiler.When I run out of home heating oil I put kero or deisel to get it going until I can a get a delivery of HHO.anyone see where I am going with this??According to the people that run these alternative source machines,there is hardly an adjustment made to the firing system to run on veggie oil.why cant a blend of used veggie oil be added to a tank of home heating oil to save a few bucks a year??? Anyone ever heard of such a thing?????????????????? Charlie....BTW Happy New Year to all!!!

You absolutely CAN. Heating oil and diesel are virtually identical. I'd make sure it was CLEAN, filtered WVO. SVO would be too expensive.

I've run Bio in my truck fairly often, it smells good!

The original diesel engine was desighned to run off peanut oil, but that was quite expensive, so they turned to a by product of crude oil at the time, and of course they called diesel after (not Vin)?
Q-What year was the "diesel engine" unvieled--- XXXX worlds fair.

Ayuh,.... The Differences between Home Heating Oil,+ Diesel Fuel is the Taxing structure,...
Nothing else...
Just like Kerosine is #1 oil, is JP8 Jet fuel is, etc... It's All still #1 oil..
Just like all the various names for #2 oil...

As for the only needing various Adjustments to burn Veggie oil, or Used Motor oil,...
That is a gross Understatement...
The heavier oils either need to be blended thinner, or preheated to lower the viscosity...
Used Motor oil burners also used compressed air to blow the oil into tinier droplets that can be then burned...

It's no doubt a Great Idea, but it's over simplfied here...

We run waste oil burners and you can tell a big difference when the % of transmission oil is increased. Clean oil would be the key. Even with a prefilter before the holding tank and two filters before the burner, we have to clean plugged fittings about once a week.
