Oil in Carburator

I have a AQ125b, and just changed the timing belt. Timing and dwell are perfect. Brought out for a test run and noticed oil coming out the breathing tube in carburator. This is a new issue, since the best change. Is there any maint to perform on the oil trap?

Oil level is good or best as you can tell:
OEM manual states check oil without pushing dipstick all the way down, just to the locking ring. If i do this, oil level is good. If i check putting dipstick all the way down, then its high.

Checked compression and its good. No water in oil, no gas in oil.

Any advise on what to check?

pcv valve. connected to other end of breather hose, at valve cover. pull out, shake a bit, it should rattle freely. that's easiest test, or get a new one, only a few bucks. assuming your motor has pcv valve.

Re: Oil in Carburator

I do not believe my aq125b has a PVC valve. Breather house connects directly into the oil trap.

Did check the OEM manual again, and didnt see where I thought it said about checking the oil level without the dipstick all the way down. I think that statement was for my drive oil.

I leveled out the boat, and my oil level is high, but not much. i am going to remove some oil, and test again.

Re: Oil in Carburator

Double check any and all vacuum hoses for proper connections.

Check the crankcase PVC valve for proper direction.

Good luck and as with any "new" symptom, double check where you worked.

Re: Oil in Carburator

Update:

Removed about 14oz of oil, so was below max on dipstick all the way down. Ran for 1 hr on lake, and no oil in carb. Took carb apart lastnight and cleaned, will test tomorrow on lake again.

Thanks,

John

Re: Oil in Carburator

too much oil will creat too much pressure inside motor, that excess oil has to go somewhere. 14 oz is a bit overfull. hopefully problem solved, good luck
