Sorry, but it's in a 59 Chris Craft. Ran fine then began loosing power, died, wouldn't turn over. Pulled plugs and oil ran out of the cylinders on the port bank. pure oil, no water.
no point in checking compression... if there's that much oil you'd just blow the face off of the gauge.
You really need to pull the head. Best WAG is your missing part of your piston/and or ring... and another WAG is it's probably detonated itself.
3 of the 4 on that bank had oil, if part of the piston or ring was missing, it wouldn't have shot the plug and oil out of the hole when I took it out tho, right? It was still under compression after 12 hrs. A tear down is in order.
ahhh i thought it was only 1 cylinder..... either way your right a teardown is in order. 3 of the 4 huh??? that is odd.
Its still possible its detonation damage... or another wag would be a seriously warped head. My last wag is gonna be you've got some real bad valve seals... but hey... its a 59... you almost made it 50 years.
Post some picture after your head removal if you can... I'm curious on this one.
Don S will probably chime in.... and he'll probably be correct... so lets see if he reads this one.
