Hello
This is a new motor, still running premix for break-in, but I dont see any oil consumption. Just to check I pulled oil line off at pump out put on powerhead. I found very little flow, but there was flow. I removed linkage running from intake to the pump and move the lever to the open postion which did allow a change in the flow but seem only to increase while it was being moved. The increase to the oil pump lever was done at idle so rpms were not up as they would be if all was hooked up normally. I reinstalled oil line and observed air bubble movement as I idle up just a little. My question is , should I see more oil consumption, is what the test Ive done normal results, can I test in any other way. I havent had any alarms, just not using any oil, or atleast it appears that way. Thanks for the help.

Re: Oil Inject SX150xrb

There should be no air in the oil lines. There is a small screw on the top of the oil pump. That is the bleed screw to get the air out of the pump on predelivery or when you install a new oil pump. Loosen the screw and let the trapped air out. Its sounds like the person who preped the engine is counting on the oil in the gas/ premix to lube the engine. Not the best way to deliver a new engine. Bleed the air out of the oil pump and run the engine with the oil control rod wide open till all the air is out of the oil line and reinstall the oil pump control rod. If you cant get the air out of the lines remove the line and bring the rpms up till the air purges itself. Then reinstall the oil lines. We use a syringe full of oil and purge the oil line manualy. Or on an efi engine will add oil to the vst/fuel chamber. HPDI's I'm very nervious of priming the oil systems I check and recheck everyone. I feel your oil delivery is ok You need to get the air out of your lines.

Thanks Vin
Originally there was no air in the line. Just got a small amout of air from removing the line to check for flow. Just got the feeling I should see more movement of the oil, seems like it would move in a pulsing method. Just to make sure I manually overfilled motor res. slightly so I can check after I run it for usage.
Thanks for the response

hello
if you lifted the sensor out of the engine tank then replace the rubber seal at the filter end.
you really should get a service manual and study how the system works. before you make a motor killing mistake. if the seal gets shoved down the oil pipe bad things can happen.
there is a reason every time you look at the tank its full.
good luck and keep posting

Did not remove anything from tank, only checking for operation of any kind, still running premix so not to worried about doing harm. Harm may have already been done if NOT running premix. I am getting some flow but am I expecting to use more oil than should actually be use, I have run for about 5 hrs, havnt seen any obvious consumption on external tank, it is a large tank so I think I may been over concerned.

Re: Oil Inject SX150xrb

hello
for a test of oil consumption while running the 10 hours of premix, mark the remote tank. it should use about 2 ounces of oil per gallon of fuel.
it will depend on throttle setting
there is a specific consumption test but if your getting oil from the output to the VST run it on premix and watch the level in the remote tank.
then calculate the oil average consumption verses gallons of gasoline used.
it some come out between 50 to 1 and about 70-75 to 1.

good luck and keep posting.

Thanks
Is the remote tank standard size? If so do you know the capacity.

There are two tanks 2.8 gallon standard and for the big steam 5.0 gallon.
