I have just purchased a Proline with a 1997 Mercury 225 on it. The previous owner had a piston collapse? in May of 2004 This was replaced with new rings and gaskets. Compression on all cylinders is 98-99 PSI.I ran the boat for an hour with no trouble before purchasing it. <br />I am thinking to disconnect the oil injection and premix as a precaution thinking this may have had something to do with his previous problem. Can anyone give me step by step instructions for disconnecting the oil injection? I assume the premix ratio is 50 to 1 for this engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I think there is a kit that holds a bushing in place on the newer motors when you pull the injection pump. If you repost with the title "removing oil injection" you should get several responses. It's a hot topic on this forum. I removed mine when my module failed and didn't want to pay for a new one. A search here should find many threads on this subject.

See the October issue of Bass & Walleye boats and the article on Electronic Oil Injection. Available from Pamlico Marine 252-637-1717.
